WIF: Women in Film

Yara Shahidi is the new Max Mara Face of the Future Award® 2023.

On November 30th, Yara Shahidi was honored as the 18th recipient of the annual WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award®. Women In Film is a non-profit organization engaged in the promotion of equal opportunities for women, sponsoring creative projects by female artists and supporting and promoting the representation of women in all forms of media worldwide. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Women In Film organization, which was founded in 1973.

Yara Shahidi is an award-winning actress, producer, and the break-out star of ABC's acclaimed series black-ish. Recognized as a formidable multi-hyphenate in Hollywood, she currently serves as the executive producer and lead of Freeform's black-ish spinoff series, grown-ish. Beyond her entertainment career, she advocates for inclusive media programming and equity, earning recognition from TIME Magazine, Forbes, British Vogue, Glamour Magazine, and Essence Magazine. Inspired by her work with former President and First Lady Obama, Shahidi founded WeVoteNext to shine a light on Gen Z and BIPOC inclusion in politics. A Harvard University graduate in Social Studies and African American Studies, Shahidi is a sought-after public speaker and influential figure beyond the screen.

Women In Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award®

The Women In Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award®, inaugurated in the 2006 edition of the Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards, is conferred to the actress who is experiencing a turning point in her professional career due to her contributions to the community and her own personification of the concepts of style and grace.
